Long-Range IR Sensor
A Long-Range IR Sensor is a type of infrared sensor that can detect objects at relatively long distances using infrared (IR) light. These sensors are useful for applications where it is necessary to detect objects or measure distances beyond the capabilities of standard short-range IR sensors. Long-range IR sensors are widely used in industrial automation, robotics, security systems, and distance measurement tasks.
Working Principle:
- The sensor emits IR light, and the reflected light from the object is detected using a position-sensitive detector (PSD).
- Based on the angle of reflection, the sensor computes the distance and outputs a corresponding analog voltage.
- For example:
- A closer object results in a higher voltage.
- A farther object results in a lower voltage.
Specifications:
- Sensing range: 3–80 cm.
- Input voltage: 5VDC.
- Current consumption: 300mA.
- Output type: Digital.
- Cable length: 1 m.
- Type: Diffuse reflective.
The sensor generates either an analog or digital output.
Applications:
- Autonomous robots
- Drones
- Security systems
- Industrial automation
- Parking systems
