The RFID Reader EM-18 is a compact,
cost-effective module designed for reading 125 kHz RFID tags. It provides
serial and TTL outputs, making it easy to integrate with microcontrollers.
Commonly used in access control, attendance systems, and automation projects,
it is reliable and straightforward to use.
Description:
The EM-18 RFID Reader
Module is a low-cost 125 kHz RFID (Radio Frequency
Identification) reader used for reading passive RFID tags. It
communicates with a microcontroller or computer through UART (Serial
Communication) or Wiegand protocol. The module detects RFID tags/cards from a
short distance and outputs a unique 12-digit ID number for
identification.
Specifications:
Operating Voltage: 5V DC
Current Consumption: 50 mA (typical)
Operating Frequency: 125 kHz
Reading Distance: Up to 10 cm (depends on
tag type and antenna size)
Communication Interface:
UART (9600 bps default baud rate)
Wiegand (alternative interface)
Output Data Format: 12-digit unique ID
Antenna: Built-in PCB antenna
Applications:
Access Control Systems: Used in door locks,
attendance systems, and security gates.
Automated Attendance Systems: Tracks
employee or student attendance using RFID cards.
Inventory Management: Helps in warehouse
stock tracking and retail store management.
Cashless Payment Systems: Used in prepaid
RFID-based payment systems.
Vehicle Parking Systems: Manages vehicle
entry/exit in parking lots.
Library Management: Used in RFID-based book
issuance and tracking.
Asset Tracking: Helps monitor and locate
valuable assets in an organization.
Pet and Livestock Identification: Used in
veterinary tracking applications.
